After an extensive hiring process, the Timpanogos School District Board of Education unanimously appointed Dr. Joseph Jensen as the district’s inaugural superintendent—an important milestone in the formation of the new district.

Dr. Jensen brings decades of educational leadership experience deeply rooted in the communities that make up the Timpanogos School District. He has spent the majority of his career serving students, educators, and families at Oak Canyon, Orem High, Orem Junior High, and Timpanogos High. Most recently, he served as Alpine School District’s Director of Administrative Development.

Reflecting on his appointment, Dr. Jensen shared, “I love the people in these communities. I lived in Pleasant Grove for ten years and spent my entire administrative career serving students, teachers, and families in Orem, Vineyard, and Lindon. I have countless memories of exceptional teachers, coaches, and support staff who work tirelessly to develop young people—in classrooms, extracurricular activities, and programs. Schools play a vital role in cultivating students’ heads, hands, and hearts in ways that strengthen both individuals and our community.”

Looking ahead, Dr. Jensen expressed appreciation for the newly elected Board of Education. “I am grateful to those who stepped forward to serve on the school board. Launching a new district requires tremendous commitment, and I deeply appreciate the sacrifices made by these board members and their families. I look forward to working alongside them to create a district where students, families, and educators can truly thrive.”

Board President Jen Lyman emphasized the strength of the selection process. “We received many applications for this position and engaged in a thorough process of reviewing and interviewing candidates,” said Board President Jen Lyman. “We appreciate the community support and involvement throughout this process and the valuable insights we gained from interviewing several outstanding candidates. We look forward to working with Dr. Jensen as we move our shared vision forward—providing high levels of genuine learning for each student within an environment of exceptional care, curiosity, and community.”

As superintendent, Dr. Jensen will focus on strengthening genuine learning for every student through effective Professional Learning Communities and meaningful engagement with educators and families. During his first 100 days, he will visit all 29 schools in the district to listen, learn, and connect with staff, parents, and administrators.
